Internet Safety

Kids Rules for Online Safety

  1. DO NOT give out personal information such as your address, telephone number, parents work address and/or telephone number, or the name and location of your school without your parents permission.
  2. DO tell your parents right away if you come across any information that makes you feel uncomfortable.
  3. DO NOT agree to get together with someone  you “meet” online without first checking with your parents. If your parents agree to the meeting, then be sure that it is a public place and bring one of your folks along.
  4. DO NOT send a person your picture or anything else without checking first with your parents.
  5. DO NOT respond to any messages that are mean or in any way make you feel uncomfortable. If you see a message like that  tell your parents right away so they can contact the service provider.
  6. DO talk with your parents so that they can help you set up rules for going online. With your parents help decide upon the time of day that you can be online, the length of time you can be online, and the appropriate areas for you to visit. Respect the guidelines your parents gave you and do not access other areas  until you have discussed with your parents.
  7. DO NOT give out your internet password to anyone  “even my best friends”.   You and your parents ought to have your password
  8. DO check with your parents before downloading or installing software
  9. DO not do anything that hurts other people or is against the law.  Be a good friend and when using social media always be respectful and use language that you would use in front of your Grandparents.
  10. DO help my parents understand how to have fun and learn things online and teach them about the internet, computers, and other technology.
